A Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse. This means they have RN training and licensure (along with a variable amount of bedside care at this level of practice), but have continued training through additional classroom and hands on clinical training. A certified Nurse Practitioner may have a master's or doctoral degree and has passed a national licensing exam allowing them to practice. Nurse Practitioners can diagnose medical conditions and prescribe medications to manage those conditions very similarly to how a physician would practice.
Some people prefer a physician due to their more extensive formal training and others prefer a Nurse Practitioner due to their tendency to have a "nurse's heart" and a good "bedside manner".
A specialist in psychiatry is trained to focus on your mental health needs. They're experts in the field and have up-to-date knowledge on research, medications and other treatment therapies that can help you. Your psychiatric provider will work with you to determine a treatment plan that's best for you.
Unlike visiting your primary care provider, who needs to address any physical health concerns, the focus and priority of your psychiatric provider will be your mental health.
We do not take health insurance for a number of reasons, including the goal of providing high quality healthcare. The current insurance industry generally reimburses providers (after a good bit of back and forth) for having short, rushed appointments. We prefer to practice on our own timeline and take the time to treat each individual as we see fit without having the insurance industry's limitations placed on our practice.
That being said, you can use HSA/FSA for payment. We can also provide a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
